Radiology Bonn
Prerequisite for successful therapy
Key areas: Pediatric and neuroradiology
Radiology deals with the examination of diseases of the human body using the latest imaging techniques. At Bonn Radiology, we offer the entire spectrum of modern and reliable diagnostics. This is the prerequisite for successful treatment. Our team led by Dr. Andre W. Demant (paediatric radiology/radiology), Dr. Marc Henning Schäfer (radiology/neuroradiology) and Dr. Thomas Weimann (radiology/neuroradiology) is fully focused on your radiological care and your needs. Beforehand, they carefully consider which examination method is best for each patient. If necessary, adults and children can also be examined under anesthesia, as the radiology department in Bonn has an experienced anesthesia team at its disposal.

Radiology and pediatric radiology
Radiologists carry out diagnostic imaging for adults and children using state-of-the-art equipment. In addition to classic X-rays and computer tomography (CT), procedures without X-rays are used, particularly in children, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound.
Apparative diagnostics
- Open high-field MRI (1.5 Tesla) – particularly suitable for claustrophobia (fear of confinement) and for patients weighing up to 250 kg
- High-field MRI with 3 Tesla for particularly high-resolution images of the brain or joints, for example
- 64-line CT with dose-saving programs
- Digital X-ray machine
- High-resolution ultrasound
- Bone density measurement (DXA)
- Carrying out check-ups together with Beta Prevent

Examination and treatment spectrum
Overall spectrum of MRI with the following special examinations
- Whole-body MRI
- Cardio-MRI (heart MRI), angio-MRI
- MRCP (visualization of the bile and pancreatic ducts)
- Prostate MRI (multi-parametric MRI of the prostate)
- Pediatric MRI (also under sedation/anesthesia)
Overall spectrum of CT with the following special examinations
- Angio-CT (for example vessels in the head, neck, kidney)
- Coronary CT (coronary arteries)
- Interventional CT (biopsies, microtherapy/pain therapy)
In addition, the Bonn Radiology Department offers
- Neuroradiologic-pediatric radiologic double diagnosis/second opinion
- MRI for obesity
- Newborn hip screening (DEGUM certified), with pediatric orthopedic consultation if necessary
- CT-guided pain therapies (microtherapies of the spine and joints)
- Bone density measurement using the low-radiation DXA method

Neuroradiology
One focus of our radiology department is neuroradiology. Adults and children are examined using the latest medical technology on the brain and spine. Therapy focuses on minimally invasive interventions to treat diseases of the spine and blood vessels.
- Angio-MRI (vessels in the head, neck, kidney, pelvis-leg)
- Brain MRI including functional neuro-MRI of the brain
- Diffusion, perfusion, fMRI, DTI, tractography
- Spinal MRI / MR myelography
- Pediatric MRI (also under sedation/anesthesia) CT
- Angio-CT (vessels in the head, neck, kidney, pelvis-leg)
- Dilation or stenting – for vascular constrictions
- Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty – for vertebral fractures
- Microtherapies on the spine
- CT-guided biopsies (tissue sampling)
